Arturo Álvarez is a visionary Spanish artist whose work merges design, craftsmanship, and artistic expression. Renowned for his innovative approach to lighting and sculpture, he defines himself simply as a creator, a word that encapsulates his endless curiosity, artistic rebellion, and dedication to pushing creative boundaries.
Self-taught and fearless, Arturo’s career spans over 25 years and is marked by three distinct artistic periods. His early work was rooted in figurative forms inspired by nature. Later, he embraced abstraction, experimenting with minimalist geometric shapes while still exploring the human form and natural references. Today, his artistic focus centers on light as a medium, delving into its emotional depth and how it reflects human connection - our light and shadow, unity and solitude.
In 2020, Arturo closed a major chapter by selling the lighting company he founded, pivoting fully toward creating unique or limited-edition light sculptures. These pieces embody the same values that earned him global acclaim: honesty, craftsmanship, and a profoundly humanistic vision.
His work has been celebrated worldwide, from Madrid and Barcelona to London and New York, and featured in major galleries and art events such as DDC Gallery, Arco, Mint, and Art Madrid.
